Capital Volunteering: Website, Intranet and Content Management System

"Ichameleon have created a website for us that looks superb and is easy to use. As a result of their work, Capital Volunteering can share knowledge and information with their local projects in a secure environment through an extranet. A Content Management System allows us to manage the site effectively"

Katalin Frank, Capital Volunteering

Starting fron scratch to tackle mental health issues.

Capital Volunteering is a new initiative formed by CSV and the London Development Centre for Mental Health that tackles issues of mental health and social exclusion by increasing the number and range of supported volunteering opportunities in London.

The new organisation draws together skills and input from multiple organisations and borough councils, together with numerous individual volunteers. As such their communications needs, both public and internal, are great and complex.

Ichameleon developed a public-facing website that can be updated using our powerful Content Management System. This is integrated with a flexible and comprehensive Intranet that can be accessed by key personnel, and is used for sharing best practice, advice and information.

Other features of the solution include:

  • Capital Volunteering can build, manage and publish their own HTML email newsletters.
  • Non-technical staff can create web pages, including complex formatting, using our WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) page editor.
  • Administrators can add new microsites for each contributing borough. These microsites can be managed by the borough's own site administrator using the Content Management System.
  • Multiple levels of access rights to the Content Management System and the Intranet mean the organisation can protect high-level content while allowing maximum access to general information.
  • Any content created for the central site can be automatically distributed to any or all borough microsites, meaning less work is needed to maintain the large and growing site.
Ichameleon worked closely with Capital Volunteering to establish the exact requirements of the project, and then with the design group Ranch to ensure the visual look of the site matched the stationery and other print materials developed for Capital Volunteering.
